Information on what makes a good beer.

Since 1834 Marston's have been producing beers of the highest quality and taste in the home of British brewing, Burton Upon Trent. We only use the finest natural ingredients and craftsmanship available to produce a range of beers for you to enjoy. We don’t compromise and believe you shouldn’t have to either.

Ruby and Cream. Black and White. Two distinct parts, one perfect pint. Adored since 1959, it’s the powerful surge and settle that gives GUINNESS® Draught beer its uniqueness. Lovingly poured around the world, GUINNESS® Draught is the UK’s best selling black beer. A unique mix of nitrogen and carbon dioxide helps create GUINNESS® Draught’s liquid swirl that tumbles, surges and gradually separates into a black body and smooth creamy head. The rise and fall of our bubbles has perplexed PhD physicists. But all you need to focus on is the taste. With an initial malt and caramel flavour, GUINNESS® Draught finishes with a dry roasted bitterness. Enjoy.

Using the same classic recipe as GUINNESS® Draught, GUINNESS® Draught Extra Cold passes through our Coldflow supercooler en route to the bar. The result is a GUINNESS® Draught that’s served 3°C cooler. With an initial malt and caramel flavour, cooler GUINNESS® Draught Extra Cold finishes with less bitterness than classic GUINNESS® Draught beer. Chilly, isn’t it?

The most important thing in a good beer is the raw materials - the best barley, the finest hops and the purest water. All natural products that the brewer uses to craft the beer you drink. Each raw material is carefully chosen, checked and then pampered at every stage of the brewing process.&

Kronenbourg 1664 is France’s No 1 selling beer and the UK’s second biggest premium selling lager. Its unique recipe is distinguished by the use of the aromatic Strisselspalt hop – the ‘caviar of hops’ which sets it apart from other beers. Take time to appreciate the unique taste of Kronenbourg 1664.

Mansfield Smooth Creamy Ale is a 3.9% ABV smooth creamy ale appealing to younger ale drinkers. The traditional Mansfield Original Bitter & Cask Ale are 3.9% ABV beers designed for drinkers that know their ale. Mansfield Dark Smooth Ale is a 3.5% ABV darker beer, and Mansfield Dark Mild is a 3.5% ABV rich, dark, brewery conditioned mild with a roast malt aroma.

Carlsberg A/S headquartered in valby, Denmark is one of the largest breweries in the world, present in about 50 countries. The company's main brand is Carlsberg Beer, but it also brews Tuborg as well as local beers. Carlsberg acquired Tuborg breweries in 1970 and merged with Tetley. After merging with the Norwegian brewery group Orkla ASA in January 2001, Carlsberg became the 5th largest brewery group in the world, and now employs around 31,000 people.

When Foster's was first launched in 1888 every Foster's stockist was given a free supply of ice to keep the beer cold. Luckily technology has moved on since then. Thanks to our unique HIT dispense technology you get a cold pint with a perfect head every time. And we leave the ice to the Eskimos.

Bulmers is the worlds largest cidermaker. The company was founded in Hereford, England in 1887 by Percy Bulmer, the son of a local clergyman. Percy made just 4000 gallons that first year. Now, Bulmers makes 65% of the five million hectolitres of cider sold annually in the UK. Cider remains the 'core' of the Bulmers business, its main brands, Strongbow, Woodpecker and Scrumpy Jack, are all market leaders. Bulmers cider can be found worldwide and Strongbow is sold across Europe, Scandanavia, USA, Australasia and the Far East.

In 1894 Percy Bulmer in Herefordshire made his first barrel of Woodpecker Cider and today it is still produced by Bulmers of Herefordshire. Back in the 1950's which was before I was born Woodpecker pioneered drinks advertising on Television with the then Top of the Pops group, the Beverly Sisters singing its praises. Since then the brands fun image has been reflected in its series of refreshing change commercials with hedgehogs squashing cars and missile shooting ducks blasting unsuspecting hunters out of their boats.

Naturally we also have a large selectin of Wines and Spirits available. beers.swf beers.swf beers.swf
